About Sacrosaunt

Hi, welcome to... me, Andrey Kulchenko! I am a -- year old student at the University of Washington. Born and raised in Washington to Ukrainian parents, I grew up speaking Russian as my first language and began learning English in preschool. I keep a close eye on tech, AI, and finance news (ex-finance major). When not working on a technical project or laughing at r/wallstreetbets, I indulge in cinema.

I love cinema. From video editing and cool theaters to new and old movies and trivia, it all excites me. My tastes range from thrillers to comedies to romance, so follow me on Letterboxd! Disclaimer: it is illegal to consider my movie ratings during the hiring process... šŸ˜

My athletic journey has included various sports: gymnastics, basketball, tennis, swimming, and soccer, which I've played for over seven years. While enjoying football and soccer as a spectator, the 2024 Olympics introduced me to a multitude of new sports. To stay in shape, I go on weekly three-mile runs, with my time decreasing with each run.

Personal projects feel more like a hobby than a chore, each with its own story of tears and bloodshed (especially Sortify😭). Documenting these projects reveals the many aspects that go into each one. Creating them primarily for personal enjoyment allows for relaxed development without the stress of rigid timelines or direction. This mindset makes the process both entertaining and creatively fulfilling.

Motivation

Realizing the portfolio potential of my personal projects led to countless hours in coffee shops, compiling them into one place, preparing online demonstrations, producing documentation, and designing this site. This domain, held for years, has evolved from a hub for social links to a showcase of my professional life. While maintaining similar animations and effects from the previous version, the layout has been adjusted to accommodate new features like the ā€œdocsā€ button for several projects. The current design aims to blend a retro style with contemporary elements.

P.S. Like the header effect/animation? It’s actually a heavily stripped down (and ported to JavaScript) version of my I’mAHuman project! Read all about it in its documentation.
